Baltic Dry Index retreats

The Baltic Dry Index fell on Monday after seven straight sessions of gains as the capesize index weakened. The Baltic Dry Index fell 11 points, or 0.66%, to 1,658 points. The capesize index fell 89 points to 2,768 points. Capesize earnings fell $743 a day to $22,954. The panamax index rose 38 points to 1,403 points, hitting a five-month high. Panamax earnings rose $336 a day to $12,623, the highest since Oct. 14. The supramax index rose 24 points to 954 points, a three-month high. The handysize index rose 1 point to 573 points.
